Career and College Readiness

- Factors that influence PA's Future Ready Index

YCAL Symposium - Is there colleagues among you who would like to attend with me? I'm already registered and would love to spend the evening learning together.

Please consider attending this worthwhile event with me.
It's FREE (and includes dinner plus Act 48 hours!)
Above all, THANK YOU for considering this invitation.

From Kevin Appnel, Executive Director at the York county Alliance for Learning:

The 2019 YCAL Career Education and Work Standards Symposium will take place on Thursday February 7, 2019from 4:00PM-7:00PM at York County School of Technology.  This is an event for York County educators, focused on the Career Education and Work Standards, which are vital in effective Chapter 339 plans and Future Ready PA. The event includes four valuable lesson plans that reflect PA's Career Education and Work Standards, Act 48 credits, dinner, and door prizes.

The Symposium is open to all K-12 Educators from YCAL Partner Schools/Districts.  This event encourages empowerment by providing each educator in attendance with four impactful, relevant lesson plans to adapt to the grade level in which they specialize, as well as valuable resources to utilize in their classrooms in the spirit of collaboration.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?
The Career Education and Work Standards Symposium connects attendees with post-secondary and career resources as well as providing some ideas and insights on classroom lessons that directly aides students in career education and professional development.  All topics discussed and information provided will assist in the fulfillment of a school’s Chapter 339 Plan and will assist in ensuring our students are Future Ready

WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME?
To assist in the delivery of this information YCAL provides attendees with the following that they can look forward to:

  • Dinner (and an engaging Keynote Speaker)
  • An Employer Panel Discussion
    • Relay back to your students what employers and colleges are “really looking for” and who said it!
  • Sample Lesson Presentations by your peers at your grade level (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) that you can borrow and build upon for your own classes
  • THREE (3) Act 48 Credits for attending
  • Lots of Door Prizes at the end of the program

HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?
Your district/school is partnered with YCAL and, because of that, this event (and the dinner and door prizes) is FREE to attend.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
We thought you’d never ask!  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER (it will take about 30 seconds).  You may register up until February 1st, but we strongly encourage early registration!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Holiday Greetings

Dear Partners in Education:

As we reflect on what this season means to us, consideration is given to people and places around our home, community, and world. Each holiday season carries with it a sense that anything is possible if we only trust in one another. This sense of love and trust causes the rough places to become smooth and the darkness to become light. We can share the positive energy with everyone without fear.

It is my wish that everyone associated with our school, our students, our staff, and our extraordinary stakeholders, take time to share this miracle of love with family and friends. If you are visiting near or far, be careful and watchful in your travels. I have been privileged to serve our school and its community over the past year, I am continuously humbled by your generosity and support as we put students first each and every day.

As 2018 comes to a close, my final thoughts include how continuously impressed I am with the amount of time and energy the staff here at Clearview puts into making sure all students are successful, both academically and mentally! You are an incredibly talented group of teachers who want nothing but the best for our students and families. Thank you for everything you do each and every day that make Clearview Elementary such a dynamic place where everyone is "Real Learning for Real Life!"

Happy holidays,
Teri

School-wide Holiday Decor...

This Monday, each teacher will receive enough bags to give every student in your designated classroom one to decorate. Students will design their bags, holiday style, with crayons (Orwig already tried out all the options for coloring a bag - colored pencils, markers, crayons - and found crayons work best). Check out the video link below to see the end result. Once students have completed their bag, collect, and by using a glue stick create your classroom star(s) [video states seven (7) but Orwig has finished one and it turns out with these bags it will take ten (10)] and turn in to the front office in order to decorate our CV hallways for the holiday. Please take one ROAR this week to make this happen for your class. THANKS!
